A cheap way to clean spark plugs and extend their service life

One of the most common causes of engine instability is faulty spark plugs. In order for them to always work stably, they need to be changed at certain intervals. But, unfortunately, this is not a panacea for this “disease”, given the quality of our fuel. Therefore, very often candles do not live up to half their service life. But still, there is one way out that will allow them to reach the final end - this is periodic cleaning from soot.
I offer a low-cost and accessible method to everyone. I personally have been using it for several years and am very pleased. In this example, spark plugs with a mileage of 20 thousand kilometers will be washed.

Will need

  • Acetic acid 70 percent. Plain table vinegar will not work.
  • A pinch of baking soda.
  • An out-of-use toothbrush.
  • Fairy type detergent.

Do-it-yourself cleaning of candles from carbon deposits

We put the candles in a plastic container. In this example, the bottom part of a PET bottle is used.

Fill with acetic acid. The entire body of the candle can be immersed, not necessarily just its lower part.

Leave it in this position for 30 minutes. During this time, the acid fights carbon deposits. After the time has passed, add about half a tablespoon of soda.

Even though baking soda will neutralize the acid, adding it at the end will enhance the cleaning effect.

Leave the candles in this solution for another 10-20 minutes.
Next, using a toothbrush and detergent, we wash each candle by hand. The result is obvious!

Precautions

  • Be sure to use this method in a well-ventilated area.
  • Do not inhale acid fumes and use individual means for healing the respiratory and vision organs.

What's the point of cleaning them?! In a normally operating car, the spark plugs will serve out their service life without the need for cleaning; if the spark plugs become clogged and do not manage to complete their service life (which is about 30,000 km), then you need to eliminate the problem of why they become clogged, and not clean the spark plugs...

If the spark plugs need cleaning, first you need to eliminate the cause of this contamination on the car.In a normally running engine, the spark plugs clean themselves. And liquid getting into the insulator does not bode well.
