How to clean your headphones

Wireless headphones are too valuable to throw away because they get dirty. In this regard, it is necessary to periodically sanitize them so as not to insert a dirty headset into your ears. Let's look at how this can be done.

Standard mechanical cleaning

For mechanical cleaning you will need:
  • soft microfiber cloth;
  • ear sticks;
  • toothpicks;
  • alcohol;
  • Toothbrush.

How to clean your headphones

Using a soft microfiber cloth, you can clean the charging case and also remove surface dust from the headphones themselves. It does not reach hard-to-reach places in the case, so dirt is removed from the recesses with ear sticks.

You can also use an ear stick to remove dirt on the earphone mesh.

If the mesh is clogged with dust, you can try to sweep it away with an old toothbrush.

At the same time, earwax will most likely still remain in the corners of the holes of the headphones, closed with mesh. You can only remove it with a toothpick. You need to act very carefully so as not to puncture the mesh.

The plastic surfaces of the case and headphones can be disinfected with alcohol. To do this, an ear stick is moistened in it.

Next, the wet cotton wool needs to be dried with a napkin and only when it becomes semi-damp can you wipe the headphones. In this case, a drop of alcohol will definitely not flow inside.

Non-standard methods that are better not to use

You can find various cleaning tools on sale that, in theory, you can try to clean your headphones. Using a melamine sponge for this, despite its effectiveness in cleaning the house, still does not give results. It cannot penetrate into the recesses, and when you try to press it there, the sponge simply breaks. In addition, it is correct to use it with water, but for headphones this is a death sentence.
Also, do not use cleaning putty. It will simply stick to the headphone mesh, creating only additional contamination. Its remains will have to be removed with a toothpick and it is not a fact that this will be 100% successful.
A rubber bulb is also useless for cleaning. It is not able to blow out earwax stuck on the surface of the headphones, no matter how hard you blow it.

The only truly useful tool for sanitary care of headphones is an ultraviolet sterilizer. It will not help get rid of dirt, but it can kill bacteria after mechanical cleaning. The sterilizer will disinfect those surfaces that cannot be rubbed with alcohol.

Thus, for now there is nothing better than conventional mechanical cleaning using the appropriate tools, applied in the correct sequence. In this case, Bluetooth headphones can really be cleaned almost to the condition of a new headset.
