You can find various cleaning tools on sale that, in theory, you can try to clean your headphones. Using a melamine sponge for this, despite its effectiveness in cleaning the house, still does not give results. It cannot penetrate into the recesses, and when you try to press it there, the sponge simply breaks. In addition, it is correct to use it with water, but for headphones this is a death sentence.
Also, do not use cleaning putty. It will simply stick to the headphone mesh, creating only additional contamination. Its remains will have to be removed with a toothpick and it is not a fact that this will be 100% successful.
A rubber bulb is also useless for cleaning. It is not able to blow out earwax stuck on the surface of the headphones, no matter how hard you blow it.
The only truly useful tool for sanitary care of headphones is an ultraviolet sterilizer. It will not help get rid of dirt, but it can kill bacteria after mechanical cleaning. The sterilizer will disinfect those surfaces that cannot be rubbed with alcohol.
