How to bend a profile pipe at a right angle in the style of wood carving

Using a profile pipe in the manufacture of various decorative structures, you can apply an unusual 90-degree bend, similar in style to wood carving. It looks very impressive, so it automatically increases the value of the finished product by several levels. The bend bends according to a template, which is guaranteed to make all the corners the same.

Profile bending

To bend a decorative right angle from a profile pipe, you must first make a cardboard template. It is cut in the shape of a square with equal sides. Their width must correspond to the width of the profile pipe.

On the template blank you need to draw a square and a diagonal, as in the photo.

Then, on each side of it, transverse lines are drawn at the same distance from the square. Another indentation is made from them, and marks are placed. They will be needed to accurately draw the petal bend.

On one side of the square, draw the outline of a petal, as in the photo, after which it is cut out. Next, the template is bent diagonally, and the outline of the petal is traced on the second side, then it is also cut with scissors.

Next, you need to accurately measure the length of the side of the template with the petal from the beginning of its bend to the top. To do this, take a narrow strip of cardboard and bend it along the contour of the figured cut of the template. After fitting, the strip is cut to the measured length. On it you will need to mark the bending lines of the internal corners.
The template is cut in half diagonally. The cardboard strip is applied with one edge to the center of the future bend on the profile pipe, first on the left and then on the right. On the profile you need to mark the edges of the attached strip. Templates are then applied to the marks and traced. They are outlined on one side of the profile, and then on the other side. For the convenience of further bending, transverse lines are drawn on the edge of the pipe from the side of the petals along the marks taken from the cardboard strip.

Next you need to cut out the outlines of the templates on the pipe. In this case, one sidewall on the side of the bends of the petals remains untouched. You need to make shallow cuts on it along the previously drawn lines.

Next, the sidewall bends around the circumference of the petals. To do this, you need to knock it down with a hammer using a backing made of a round pipe. As the bends occur, the distance between the halves of the profile pipe will decrease.
