To protect the respiratory system from dust and other particles hazardous to humans, a respirator with valves is used. It allows you to separate the flows of inhaled and exhaled air, which is its main difference from bandages. This is a simple device that you can make with your own hands from available materials.

The bottom and neck are cut off from a 2 liter plastic bottle. The bottom will be used as a respirator half mask, so the cut should be as neat as possible.

The bottom of the bottle consists of 6 stiffening ribs. In 3 adjacent ones you need to cut holes along the diameter of the part of the neck with a thread for the lid.

Since the central and side valves are installed in different directions, when air is inhaled, only those with a cotton filter open. During exhalation, they are blocked and gas is released through the central valve. This half-mask respirator can be used to filter dust, vapors, paint particles and microorganisms present in the air.
