Adapter for batteries from pinky to finger batteries

Sometimes such a nuisance happens as unexpectedly dead batteries (for example, in a watch or alarm clock!) “AA” batteries, in common parlance “finger” ones, and you only have pinky ones (type “AAA”). You can, of course, go and buy new ones at the store, or charge them if you have rechargeable batteries. But it would be much more convenient and faster if you had such an adapter for batteries. This will help you put off buying batteries if you don’t want to leave the house for such a trivial purchase.

Will need

To make this adapter we will need the following materials and tools:
  • Stationery knife,
  • self-adhesive colored oilcloth,
  • file,
  • flat screwdriver,
  • emery machine,
  • latex gloves,
  • protective glasses,
  • paper,
  • foil,
  • second glue,
  • and an unnecessary, dead “AA” battery.

IMPORTANT POINT: the battery must have a solid shell, like a capsule, and not with edges joined by a seam! Alkaline elements have exactly what you need.

Making a battery adapter

So, before starting work, you must take all precautions! Wear gloves and goggles. Next, we take our battery and remove it from the label (if there is one) using a utility knife.

Then carefully cut off one fourth of the battery from the bottom (minus side). This is approximately 15 millimeters.

If there was liquid in the battery, let it drain before continuing to work. After removing the specified part, use a flat screwdriver to scoop out the contents of the battery into a sealed bag or container, with its further disposal as waste of class 1-2.

We wash the product with water. After the above procedures, you should get an all-metal capsule. To remove burrs and straighten the cut edges, use a file.

Next, we will need to make a filler so that the small battery does not dangle in this adapter. To do this, take a little finger battery and wrap it tightly with paper until it matches the caliber of the finished capsule.

One more point: to prevent the rolled roll from curling inward when we take the little finger battery out of it, it is necessary to stick a piece of double-sided tape on the first turn. Next, we roll a small, loose ball out of foil (so that later you can easily adjust the desired length by squeezing this ball) and put it in the capsule. We insert the previously made roll of paper on top and align it with the edges of the capsule using a stationery knife.

We fix the roll in the capsule with second glue by soaking the edges. We cover the resulting product with self-adhesive oilcloth. You can also use heat-shrinkable tubing of a suitable size.

That's it, the adapter is ready. Enjoy it for your health!

We buy a disposable syringe for 5 cubes, remove the piston.
The cost is 2 hryvnia (6 rubles converted). The diameter is perfect for the size of an AA battery.
Trim off the excess. Insert a piece of copper or aluminum wire with a cross-section of 2.5 mmX2 about 6 mm long into the slightly shortened spout
We insert a AAA battery inside. All. The work takes a few minutes.

When to do something wrong is understandable. It’s easier to buy batteries of the required class.

The point is, trophy type batteries are cheap. It’s easier to just wrap it in paper and that’s fine. Otherwise, you can injure your fingers and, God forbid, a piece of coal or something else gets into your eye.

How much unnecessary work it takes to use a “pinky” battery instead of a “finger” battery in a watch for a short time.
You take foil from chocolate candies, I took it from Little Red Riding Hood, roll it into a ball, a lump, it doesn’t matter, and insert this lump into the watch from the “-” side along with the battery. Everything works great. Labor costs are equal to 2 minutes. Everything ingenious is simple.
