Manufacturing process of decorative plastic lattice
To make a grate, you need to cut the pipe into narrow rings and glue them together. Thus, the cell size will be equal to the diameter of the pipe used. Using a marker and tape measure, you need to mark the tube for cutting in 10 mm increments. That is, from 1 m of pipe you get 100 rings. Based on these data, you can calculate in advance what length of pipe will be required. For example, to make 1 square meter of grating from a pipe with a diameter of 40 mm, you will need 6.25 m.
Next, the pipe is cut into rings according to the marks. This can be done with scissors for plastic pipes, but if they are not branded, then after a couple of hundred cuts they will become dull, and besides, it is difficult to work with them.
It is optimal to use a miter saw.When cutting according to the mark, the rings will be slightly thinner than 10 mm due to the width of the saw blade, but this is not significant.
You need to put together a rectangular frame from a block or other lumber, which will serve as a form for the lattice. The frame is placed on a flat base, then paper or film is placed on its bottom.
Rings are placed in the frame, pre-lubricated with glue at the points of contact with each other. It is important to use high-quality glue designed specifically for working with PVC. In order for the rings to fit tightly until the glue sets, the frame needs to squeeze them. If its size is not suitable, then slats of a suitable cross-section should be laid along one longitudinal and transverse side in order to compress the rings.
After the glue has dried, the grille is removed. The paper or film stuck to the bottom comes off. There may be traces of glue between the rings in the triangular cells. They can be cut with a thin knife.
This decorative lattice can be used as a wall for an open gazebo or veranda. It is also used in the interior as an interior partition. On sale you can find PVC pipes of different colors. It is advisable to immediately use the appropriate one so as not to paint the grille later. Painting over it is not so easy, and over time the paint may begin to peel off if the product is used outdoors.
