How to clean a well yourself using “Baby”

To increase the flow rate of a well and the quality of water, it is necessary to periodically clean it. To do this, you need to hire specialists, or solve the problem yourself by lowering yourself into the well on cables with a bucket. You can also make various devices that allow you to scoop up silt and sand, but this requires time, materials and assistants. If cleaning is carried out only by one person, then the easiest way to pump out the dirt is using two pumps.

What you will need:

• submersible pump, “Kid” type;
  
• drainage pump 15 cubic meters per hour or more powerful;
  
• hoses;
  
• clamps;
  
• 90 degree 3/4" brass elbow;
  
• 3/4" barrel;
  
• rope or cable.

DIY well cleaning process

The essence of the method is to use two pumps. An ordinary inexpensive vibrating one works to agitate the water. It raises the suspension, eroding the sand. At this time, the drainage pump pumps muddy, dirty water out of the well. That is, all the accumulated silt gradually comes out along with it. The process continues for hours, but does not require constant monitoring. It is necessary to periodically check the water level so that the pumps do not start running dry and immerse them deeper.

To wash away the sand, you need to install a piece of hose on the vibration pump and place an elbow with a barrel on it. Then another piece of hose is installed on the barrel and folded down. Thus, the stream from the pump will go to the bottom of the well, thereby muddying the entire sediment.

A crossbar is laid across the well ring to which the pumps will be attached.

Then a rope or cable is tied to the vibrating electric pump and it is lowered to the very bottom. It is important that it does not lie, but is slightly above the sand level.

The drain pump is then lowered to remove the dirty water.

It is equipped with a long hose or sleeve, the edge of which can be pulled further along the area where the pumped out dirt can be drained. You need to check that the hose is not pinched at the outlet of the ring, since the narrowing will crush the pump and it will pump poorly.

Having started both pumps, you need to pump out the muddy water. The level in the well must be checked periodically. As the sand leaves, the pumps need to be immersed deeper, closer to the bottom with mud. If the well has wide rings, then the pumps also need to be occasionally moved around the perimeter to evenly pump out the turbidity. The pumped water can be simply drained onto the site, but then it will become clogged with sand and yellow clay. You can dig a small hole and pour it there. In this case, heavy turbidity will settle to the bottom, and cleaner water without heavy suspension will spread over the area through the top of the pit.
