Bending machine manufacturing process
Before assembling the machine, you will need to carry out turning work using a 40 mm blank as a workpiece. A sleeve 30 mm high with an internal hole of 15 mm is made from it. You also need to grind out 2 fungal bushings. The outer diameter of their thin part should be equal to the diameter of the inner race of the existing bearings. The diameter of the fungus cap is made 5-10 mm larger. A 10 mm hole is drilled in the bushings and a countersunk hole is made under the head of the bolts. You also need to make a finger into a large bushing from 15 mm round timber.You need to lightly sand it so that it fits easily into her hole.
The machine bed is made of strip or thick steel plate.
It consists of two rectangular blanks of different sizes. The smaller one should have enough area to accommodate two selected bearings. The large one is made wider and longer by 30-40 mm. One corner of the smaller plate is cut and rounded inward so that a sleeve with a diameter of 40 mm can be attached to it with a gap of 1-2 mm.
The frame blanks are folded together and trimmed at the angle opposite to the rounded one, after which they are welded with a continuous seam and cleaned according to welding.
3 holes are made in the machine bed. The first is to drill under the finger to install a large bushing.
It is made in the lower wide plate on the corner so that the bushing fits the rounded corner of the upper plate with a gap of 1-2 mm. Then 2 blind holes are drilled on the smaller plate for installing the thrust bearings on M10 bolts.
Blind holes are threaded. Then the bolts with bearings and bushings are screwed into them.
A shoulder cut from the metal used to make the frame is welded to the large bushing. A stop made of the same material is welded on top of it. Its edge should not reach the hole in the sleeve by 12-15 mm. You need to cut a notch on the end of the stop. Then the shoulder is lengthened with a round timber. It is welded at a slight upward slope. It is advisable to heat the notches of the stop with a gas cutter and harden them by cooling them in water.
A finger is driven into the sleeve with the handle, and it is installed in the hole on the frame.
The machine is clamped in a vice. For bending, reinforcement or round timber is placed between the bearings and the pin, then bent by turning the handle.
