It's no secret that if you put an onion in a glass of water, then very soon a green feather will begin to grow from it. However, after a few weeks, the water in the glass will deteriorate and the smell from such a plantation on the windowsill will not be the most pleasant. We offer a new and improved method of growing onions for greens.
What you will need:
- plastic bottles 0.5 l;
- medium bulbs;
- knife or scissors;
- water.
Feather growing process
The necks of plastic bottles are cut off.
They must be turned over and inserted into the cut, having first removed the covers.
Then the bottles are filled with water to the middle of the necks. The bulbs are inserted into the necks with the roots down. Before this, their tails are cut off and the peeling husk is torn off so that it does not rot.
The bottles are placed on the windowsill.
After about 10 days, feathers will begin to grow from the bulbs.
Very soon only the roots will reach the water. The bulbs themselves will remain dry, so they will not rot or smell unpleasant. It is very easy to change the water as it turns sour.To do this, you need to lift the onion with the neck, drain it and replace it with a fresh one. Thus, from one bulb you can get a feather several times until it is depleted.
