It is customary to braid the straps and handles of a tourist backpack, as well as the handles of a hiking tool, with paracord cord. In this form, it does not take up space, but is always at hand. When a rope is needed, it simply needs to be untied and used. However, it takes 5-10 minutes to untie a braided cord. Once you learn this weaving method, you can unwind it in a second.
Blooming weaving process
You need to tie a knot at the edge of the cord. To do this, it is twisted 2 times, and its end is inserted into a double ring. The knot is tightened and moved closer to the edge.
Next, you need to fold the edge of the cord in half. The length of the loop will correspond to the width of the weave. It is applied to the surface to be braided. In this case, the edge with the knot should be located on the left.
The main cord is pulled to the right and wrapped around the braiding surface. It is placed on the loop on top and wound on it. You need to return it back and go behind the loop as well, but from the other side.
This weaving is carried out until the end of the doubled cord. When a 1 cm long loop remains, you need to cut the cord and tie the same double knot at its end as at the beginning. It is wound into a loop, and it is pulled up by the first knot.
The extended end of the first knot must be hidden in the weave. It’s worth immediately measuring how long the loop was used so that later, after untying the cord, you can braid it again in the same way, but without cutting.
To release the cord, you will need to pull the end of the main loop and pull the final knot through it. After this, by pulling out the first knot, you can instantly unravel the entire winding.
