It's no secret that quite often the purchase of clothes is made spontaneously, by inspiration. And sometimes because of this, some shortcomings of products go unnoticed at first glance. However, after some time they still become visible, and then disappointment and ignorance sets in - what to do with such a thing now - either throw it away, or try to repair it.
If there is a sewing machine in the house, and the owner has even minimal sewing skills, you can try to rehabilitate your product.
Here, for example, is an ordinary knitted T-shirt. Fresh blue color, I liked it at first sight, and was bought, as they say, without looking. After the next wash it became very wrinkled. While ironing it, I accidentally discovered that the bottom of the back of the T-shirt is uneven, and this is very noticeable.

It was decided to repair the T-shirt, namely, to redo its bottom.

Fixing the bottom of a T-shirt

First, the double stitching that hemmed the bottom was unraveled. This can be done easily and simply like this: first of all, you need to carefully cut the front stitches (needle stitches) in several places, then they need to be slowly pulled out. After performing this operation, the lower thread will unravel itself.

The bottom of the T-shirt was carefully ironed.

The T-shirt was then folded in half to match the side seams and the bottom of the armholes, and pinned together in several places. After this, a new line for the bottom of the T-shirt was outlined.

The T-shirt was cut along it.

Advice: do not rush to throw away the scraps after you have assembled the item - you can use them to adjust the stitching of the sewing machine before working directly with the item.
Then the bottom of the T-shirt was pressed 2.5 cm towards the wrong side. It was possible to make the hem narrower, but there were punctures on the front side of the product from the first line. It was not possible to reduce them “to nothing” by steaming, so I had to iron the hem more so that these punctures would not be visible.
The edge of the hem allowance curled up a lot, so I had to baste it so it wouldn't interfere with the stitching.

The double needle did not take this knitwear, so the stitching along the bottom of the T-shirt was laid in 2 steps using a special needle for knitwear.

The basting threads were removed, and the bottom was ironed with additional movements of the iron (so as not to stretch).
The T-shirt has been saved and can be worn further.
