How to deal with ice on the windshield

In winter, during snowfall, ice constantly appears on the windshield even while driving, since frozen wipers cannot remove water properly. To avoid this, you have to constantly clean everything manually, or use special chemicals such as anti-ice or glass defroster. All these products are not cheap, but there is a cheap solution - silicone grease.

Treating wipers with silicone grease

Regular silicone grease perfectly protects glass from ice. It is simply applied to the wiper blades. Then, when they are turned on, the lubricant is rubbed onto the glass, making it greasy. All precipitation collects on it in the form of drops, which can be easily wiped off by hard, frozen wipers. Even if these drops become ice during parking, they will fall off during cleaning, since they do not adhere to the glass through the lubricant.

And even in the dark, this lubricant will greatly interfere with your vision when the wipers are working (like a cloudy coating). And it’s quite difficult to wash silicone afterwards.

That's right, the glass will be cloudy and greasy.

Experience once: I took out a rattling brush, came across WD-40, sprayed it. A miracle happened, the brush stopped rattling. It took a couple of days to clean the glass from the turbidity, as it was completely uncomfortable to drive.
Experience two: “smart” people suggested adding Lenor fabric softener to the washer, the drops say they don’t linger on the glass, and in the rain you can drive without wipers. And they turned out to be right, the drops do not linger, but the cloudy glass is very annoying. I drained the washer fluid, but a couple more fills strained the remaining Lenore in the tank.
Conclusion: if you want clean glass, don’t be foolish.

What about at night after this treatment? The glass should not be greasy.
