This is a simple life hack. The furniture will be like new again.
Required:
- Walnut;
- Soft fabric.
Method for removing scratches:
1. Peel the walnut from the shell. Remove the brown skin from part of the kernel.
2. Thoroughly rub the prepared walnut over the scratch or chip on the wooden product. First in a circular motion, then linearly for 1 minute.
3. Let the product stand for 30 minutes and polish with a soft cloth.
4. To protect a scratch or chip, you can apply a thin layer of clear varnish after polishing.
The principle of operation is that the scratch is filled with nut oil, the wood swells a little and darkens. Thanks to this action, the scratch becomes almost invisible.
The chips, of course, will not be able to be filled, but they will become less noticeable in color.
In this way, old unvarnished furniture, doors and decorative panels can be restored.
Life hack without nuts
If there are no nuts, but you really need to remove scratches on the wood, then here is an additional life hack.
- It is necessary to heat the iron to maximum temperature.
- Cover the wooden product with a cloth.
- Apply iron steam over the product, through the fabric.
- Moisture also causes wood to swell and the scratch to fill.
However, wood oil is safer as it protects against excessive absorption of moisture from the space.
