The process of preparing mastic for wood
You can only cook oil-wax in a water bath, as it burns to the bottom of the container. Place 1 liter of linseed oil in a floating pan and bring to a boil.
Beeswax is added to the boiling oil. The thickness of the resulting mastic depends on its quantity. It is optimal to use 50 g so that it is soft.
While the wax melts in the oil, you need to crush 50 grams. pine rosin and add a little turpentine to it. It will dissolve it quickly enough. If you do not use it, scratching grains of rosin will be found in the oil-wax. Then it is poured viscously into oil.
The mixture must be boiled until the rosin is completely dissolved. After this, the pan is removed from the water bath. The mass should cool down, but not fall asleep. Warm oil is poured into jars. When it hardens, it will have the consistency of soft honey. The impregnation will be easily absorbed into the wood when rubbed. Using rosin and wax, the surface can be polished to a shine. The shelf life of oil-wax in a closed container is unlimited.
