Construction We start the pond by preparing the place, digging a hole so that the container is 0.1 meters above the surface. We pour sand onto the bottom, level the bathtub, add sand around it and tamp it down, spilling it with water.
It is important to limit the perimeter around the pond with concrete, a border or natural rubble stone, retreating about half a meter from the edge. Next, we fill the shore of the pond with fine gravel in a layer of 0.1 meters, leveling it with the level of the pond trough to prevent crushed stone from pouring into the water.
Fill the pond with tap water. We move on to decorating and filling the reservoir with flora and fauna. From the plants on the surface of the pond in the crevices of the stone we will plant: flax, decorative onions, wild peas, a variety of loach, hosta, wormwood. For decoration, you can cut off the top layer with native plants, water the turf so that it takes root. It is better to plant lawn grass around the pond; in a couple of months it will cover everything with a green carpet.Remember to separate it from the rest of the land, otherwise you will have to fight it like a weed.
Coniferous plants look wonderful: thuja, juniper, dwarf spruce.
To arrange a reservoir, you simply need to collect plants from rivers, streams and ponds. Above-water plants: sedge, reeds, coins, take root remarkably well in an artificial reservoir and even manage to overwinter in central Russia. For plants with roots, use ordinary flower pots, filling them with crushed stone and river sand.
Place caught snails (ponds, reels), fish and frogs in the pond, which will delight your children with their croaking concert, causing delight in the illusion of a real lake.
The following fish are quite suitable: crucian carp, rotan, small carp. Aquarium goldfish and viviparous fish tolerate even low temperatures quite well. Veiltails from the carp family can be kept in the pond until frost.
Thanks to the plants, the created microclimate will allow you not to feed the aquatic inhabitants; they will have enough pasture (midges, mosquitoes, daphnia, cyclops).
The pond will not require special care; it is enough to add water on time, which will come from a regular water supply, since small volumes will not harm the inhabitants of the reservoir. Remove rotten plants in a timely manner. To improve the design and additional aeration of the water, you can install a fountain. For a large pond, you will need a serious factory-made filter or one converted from a drainage pump.
In the spring, with subsidence of the soil around the pond, additional filling with crushed stone will be required. The fine gravel acts as natural drainage, so there will be a constant approach to the pond.
The manufactured pond will bring a lot of pleasure when relaxing on the site; it will allow you to feel the smells, sounds and freshness of real nature, easily transported in space without leaving your home.
