How to easily remove a stump without uprooting

This method is not labor-intensive and will not require a lot of effort or specialized equipment from you. Using this method, you alone can easily remove at least a dozen stumps from your site. Strictly speaking, there is no secret to deleting it. We'll just burn the stump out from the inside.
Due to the use of an open flame, this process has the disadvantage that it cannot be used in places where fires cannot be lit. Namely, near gas pipelines, houses, overhead power lines, etc.
But with this method you can remove absolutely any stumps in size and condition: damp or rotten.

Will need

  • A hammer drill, drill or screwdriver with a long wood drill bit.
  • 100-200 ml. kerosene, diesel fuel or any ignition for coal.
  • 0.5 meter piece of cotton fabric.

This is basically all you need, not much, isn’t it....

Removing stumps using fire

First, drill a vertical hole in the center of the stump as far as the drill allows.

Then we drill a deep hole at an angle, so that it connects inside with the first hole.

If you look from above and drill from the side, you can see the intersection and exit of the drill.Because it is quite problematic to feel the intersection manually when using a powerful hammer drill.

Fill the hole with 100-200 diesel fuel. You can also use a charcoal ignition, which is usually used for cooking barbecue. I don't recommend using gasoline - it will burn out quickly.

We make a kind of wick from cotton fabric. We wet the strip with ignition and lower it into the hole.

Light the remaining end of the wick.

While it is heating up, we make a few more holes on different sides for better air access.

If the stump does not light up the first time, add some dry branches to the hole and repeat the ignition.
A little later, a stable combustion began to emerge.

After 4 hours, the base inside the stump clearly burned out.

It got hotter when the breeze blew.

The stump burned and smoldered almost all night. The next morning there was this picture. It turned out something like a meteorite crater. It can be covered with fresh black soil to ensure good grass growth.

This is not necessary, but I decided to make a fire in this place to burn the unnecessary branches remaining from the cut down tree, and at the same time burn out the roots in the ground.

I'm pleased with the result.

You need to anoint it with chicken droppings, it will dry out, then burn it.

You can also soak a stump and roots with saltpeter.
With saltpeter, everything burns without air access - the roots burn even underground.

    will almost never roll.
    only old dry stumps.
If you cut down a fresh tree, it won’t burn; if there is a lot of water in the ground, it won’t burn. at best, it will smolder for a week, with periodic ignition.
and the roots, which are not at all the size of branches, are not removed.

Let me just remind you that thick roots can burn for a week and go tens of meters underground!

As a consequence(!) of these actions, it is possible to eliminate the stump itself and ensure good growth of grass, but the roots of such a tree extend to 1 - 1.5 m and it is very difficult to ensure the growth of other trees, especially garden ones, in this area. It’s quicker to dig it with a trench at a distance of 1 m and, having cut off the roots, uproot it, hooking it with a cable with a machine. Time 2-4 hours

Saltpeter is the best option. As a child, they burned huge stumps, and not the driest ones. They used “ball” saltpeter, a good oxidizing agent.

How much oxygen did you burn? We must act with a hatchet and a crowbar - quickly and without fire.

A flag in your hands and a drum around your neck. Well, a hatchet and a crowbar.
