A hammer is a universal impact tool that can be used to work better and more conveniently if you use a few tricks. Let's look at 6 of them. You may already know about some, but you will probably learn something new.

1. Place the rubber tip on the firing pin

If you install a rubber tip on the hammer head, this will allow you to use it for straightening sheet metal.

You can put a bedstead or an overlay on metal bed legs. Such a hammer allows you to straighten tin, set ceramic tiles with glue, and it does not leave dents on the wood.

2. How to pull out long nails without backing with a carpenter's hammer

The nail puller capabilities on the back of a carpenter's hammer may not be enough to remove long protruding nails. In this case, he doesn’t want to pick up their hat.

It is enough to grab the base of the nail with a nail puller and turn the hammer to its side, bending it. When the nail is driven in shallowly, it will immediately vomit. If it remains, then you can use a nail puller to grab its bend instead of the head and pull it out by it.

3. Belt hammer holder

To carry a hammer on your belt, you can make a special holder. To do this, select a plastic tube of such a cross-section that the tool handle fits into it. A piece 15-20 cm long is cut from it and sawn halfway lengthwise.

Now you need to saw off one part of the cut from the side. A U-shaped slot is made on the remaining half, the plastic of which is bent to form a clothespin.

This holder clings to the belt, which allows you to always carry the hammer at hand. Only when making a hook should you form a clothespin with a sufficient distance from the edge so that it does not break off.

4. Bend protruding nails

To prevent the driven nail from being pulled out under load, its protruding part must be bent on the reverse side. If you simply hammer it to the side, the sharp tip will protrude.

It's best to bend it first with a nail puller to form an arc. Then he is hit with a striker. Then its end will enter the tree and will not stick out.

5. How to pull out long nails with a carpenter's hammer using a backing

If the nail puller on the back of the hammer is not enough to reach the nail head and engage, you can use a backer. Any other tool or piece of board is placed under the hammer to bring it closer to the head. After this, the nail can be pulled out.

6. Wearing nails on the handle of a hammer

When working at height, you have to take nails with you without a box. Simply stretch a money rubber band over the handle of the hammer and insert the nails under it. She will hold them even when performing strikes.
