If you are thinking about decorating walls with imitation brick from gypsum tiles, then do not rush to purchase it. It costs much more than the cost of its production. This tile is so simple to make that it can be cast in the required quantity with minimal cost in a couple of hours.

What you will need:

  • Gypsum;
  • concave ceiling plinth 60 mm wide;
  • round wooden door handle;
  • wire brush for drill;
  • stationery knife;
  • roulette;
  • hacksaw for metal;
  • masking tape;
  • putty knife.

Manufacturing process of decorative gypsum bricks

To cast gypsum tiles using this method, a 60 mm wide gypsum ceiling plinth is used as a mold. It needs to be marked for bricks every 185 mm. If you use just such a plinth, then you should not make the tiles longer, it will look worse.

If you plan to make corrugated bricks, then the shape needs to be modified. For this you will need a wooden door handle.It must be cut around the circumference with a knife to obtain chaotic cuts.

The handle is then rolled forcefully across the baseboard mold, leaving indentations.

You can increase the relief by rolling another round, hard wire brush for a drill. For convenience, its shank is inserted into a thin tube so that it rolls smoothly.

According to the marks, each 185 mm shape must be sawed across, using a hacksaw for metal, to the bottom of the concavity.

Then masking tape is glued to the ends of the baseboards so that the plaster does not leak out when pouring.

The forms are installed on a flat base. You need to place pencils or other supports under them across them, and pour thinly diluted plaster.

The solution is leveled with a spatula flush with the walls of the mold. Thanks to the pads, the flowing plaster residues will not stick the plinth to the base.

After 5 minutes, the gypsum lath in the mold is cut into bricks using a stationery knife along the notches.

Thus, if you buy one three-meter ceiling molding, then with its help you can cast 16 tiles at a time. You can make them grooved or smooth.

What both options look like is shown in the master class.
