In order not to spend money buying a factory marking cord clamp in a store, you can make it yourself from an unnecessary tin. Any adult who has cut something with a grinder at least once can handle this job. With the help of this simple device, your brick or block laying will be excellent.

Will need

From materials it is enough to have an unnecessary piece of tin and construction cord. To work you need to prepare:

  • measuring square;
  • pencil;
  • grinder;
  • hammer;
  • pliers.

The process of making a marking cord clamp

Using a square and a pencil, we draw an isosceles trapezoid on the surface of the tin, the larger base of which is 12 cm, the smaller base and height are 6 cm each. From the intersection point of the larger base and height, we put 1 cm along all the lines and connect the points, getting an equilateral triangle.

We clamp the marked tin between two sheets of plywood and, using a grinder, according to the markings, cut out a figure in the form of an isosceles trapezoid with a cutout at the intersection of the larger base and the height in the form of an equilateral triangle.

On a trapezoid made from tin, through the top of the cutout we draw a line parallel to the bases of the trapezoid. We divide one of the sides of the isosceles trapezoid into three parts and make two shallow slits.

Using the edge of the plywood, use a hammer to bend part of the figure along the drawn line until you get an angle between the bent part and the rest of the figure equal to 90 degrees.

We bend the tin figure along the line of symmetry (the height of the trapezoid) until the edges of the cutout in the form of an equilateral triangle touch each other.

We bend the bar between the two slots on the side of the trapezoid outward by 90 degrees.

At the end of the marking cord we tie a loop, throw it over the bent strip, wrap the strip 2-3 times, pass it through the cut between the flanges, press the latch against the corner of the brick so that the flanges lie on the top bed of the brick, and the sides are pressed against the spoon and poke .

The marking cord, pressed by the clamp flange to the top edge of the brick, ensures even laying at any length.
