Potato chips can be prepared at home, but to do this, the peeled tubers need to be cut very thinly. Doing this with a knife is difficult and time-consuming. If you make a combine of the proposed design for shredding, then using it to cut potatoes into the thinnest slices will take less than a minute.

The manufacturing process of a shredding combine
To assemble the combine, you need sheet plastic. You can buy it, but it's cheaper to just straighten off scraps of sewer or drain pipes. They are cut lengthwise, heated and compressed between two planes. A rectangular blank 20x15.5 cm is cut out of the resulting sheets. Sides made of a plastic strip 10 mm wide are glued onto it with superglue.
A piece of pipe with a diameter of 50 mm and a length of 115 mm is glued into the center of the box. To make it stick better, it is better to first rub the plastic with sandpaper.
Next, a 14x8 cm blank is cut out. 3 sides, each 5 cm wide, are glued to it.This part is glued to the end of the pipe. It needs to be aligned along the edge, not the center.
A disk with a diameter of 17 cm is cut out of a sheet of plastic. It needs to be drilled in the center and marked into 3 equal sectors. Windows are cut out in the disk for knife blades.
A 10 mm wide edge is glued around the circumference of the disk. You will need to glue a triangular overlay into the center for reinforcement.
The blades are cut off from the knives, and mounting notches are made on them along the edges. They need to be screwed onto the disk from the opposite side from the side. Miniature screws are used for this. To create the required angle of attack of the blade, screws are first screwed onto the disk. The knives will rest against them, thus they can be secured at an angle. By adjusting the height of the protrusion of the screws, you can adjust this reach. Then the blades are additionally glued.
An axle made of a stud is installed on the disk.
Next, you need to saw off a piece 80 mm long from the wooden slats and drill it lengthwise. A bushing made of a thin tube is driven into it. This will allow the axle to rotate easily without wobbling.
The spine is installed in the mount, and a nut is soldered onto its protruding part. Then the mount is glued to the side of the frame assembled from plastic.
To make a handle you will need a piece of thin plastic pipe. Plugs are glued into it. The handle is drilled and secured to the disk with a pin.
Then you need to cut the pusher plate into the combine tray. It should slide easily in it. The back wall of the tray is drilled and a pin or rod is inserted into the hole. A spring is put on it, and a plate is glued to the edge.
Now, by placing a potato in the tray in front of the pusher and unscrewing the handle, you can make thin slices. All that remains is to fry the slices in oil, and the chips are ready.
