Plastic inspection hatches in bathrooms rarely fit into the overall renovation picture. They make even expensive tiles look less presentable. Magnetic hatches look much better. They are almost invisible, because they look like the rest of the screen under the bathtub. You can make a hidden inspection hatch from tiles without an expensive push mechanism, securing it with magnets.

The process of making a hidden hatch
The hatch is usually made from one or more whole tiles. This way it will be less noticeable than one consisting of scraps. In a piece of drywall for lining a niche or screen under the bathtub, you need to cut out a window for the hatch. It should be smaller than the tile or tiles selected for the door by at least 10 mm in width and height.
According to the width of the window for the hatch, you need to cut 2 pieces of UD profile. Furniture magnets are screwed to them flush with the edge. The more there are, the more reliable it is.They hold up worse than neodymium ones, but they cost pennies. In sufficient quantities, furniture magnets will hold securely.
Profiles with magnets are screwed to the screen from the reverse side so that the magnets are in the opening.
Then we attach the hatch and use a pencil to mark the places where the mating metal plates will be glued. They need to be glued with Moment glue. After it sets, the hatch will hold securely.
Making such a preparation is only half the battle. You still need to properly assemble the screen frame. We glue wooden blocks with liquid nails under the side of the bathtub. Already on them you need to screw the UD profile with short self-tapping screws. The void under the profile is foamed with polyurethane foam.
Then the bathtub is installed on its legs. After this you need to secure the frame frame. It is not necessary to screw the profile with dowels. You don't have to drill the tile, but glue it with polyurethane sealant.
Stands made of CD profile are installed between the UD frame. They need to be fastened with self-tapping screws and a press washer. Then a sheet of plasterboard fitted to the size with a built-in hatch is screwed onto the frame, or it is done later.
Next, all that remains is to glue the tiles. A separate tile must be glued to the hatch, not connected to the rest of the base, so it can be easily removed.
