The siphon design of a sink or bathtub is such that hair washed down the drain is retained in it. Over time, so many of them accumulate that they completely block the drain. Usually the problem is solved by dismantling and cleaning the siphon manually, but everything can be done much simpler. This method will be a lifesaver if you don’t have easy access to the siphon, or it’s so tightly screwed that you don’t have the strength to unscrew it.

What you will need:

  • Cable tie;
  • scissors or knife.

The process of cleaning the siphon without disassembling

For cleaning you will need to make a very simple tool from a cable tie. Oblique cuts are made on it on both sides with scissors or a knife. The direction of the cut should go from the tie lock towards the tip of the tape.

The result is a Christmas tree with thorns. We take this tool and insert it into the drain.

You need to move them in the siphon and then pull them out. Part of the clog will come out along with it.

We clean the dirt from the screed and repeat the action again until the duct is completely open to drain the water.
