During operation, one laminate or vinyl board may be damaged due to the fall of a heavy object, thermal effects, etc. This will spoil the appearance of the entire floor and the mood of the owners. But a damaged board can be replaced with a new one, and such work can be done by every adult.

Process of replacing damaged laminate or vinyl plank flooring
We cover the damaged board on all sides with tape to highlight the work area and provide some protection to adjacent boards from accidental damage.
In the middle of the defective board we draw a line in the longitudinal direction. We draw lines to it from the four corners at 45 degrees.We do not bring them to the corners by about 5-6 mm, so as not to damage the adjacent whole boards when cutting.
Using an oscillating multifunctional knife, we cut through the damaged board along inclined lines.
We lift the triangles cut out at the ends of the board by the central corner and use a knife to cut the top covering along the base of the triangles at a distance of 5-6 mm from the edge of the board.
Carefully remove the remaining strips along the edges with a wallpaper knife, cut the board along the middle line and collect the sawdust formed after cutting with a vacuum cleaner. Then we remove the halves and also collect debris from the area where the damaged board lay.
The new board has longitudinal projections of side locks on the long sides. We remove it with a wallpaper knife, holding it at 45 degrees to the board, the one that is narrower. It can be removed in one pass or in parts, which is easier and less likely to damage the board.
Then we turn the board over and remove all bulges and thickening from the locks. If there are small defects in the adjacent contact areas, then this is not a problem, since they will still be covered with a new board.
Since there is an end protrusion of the lock on the adjacent board, we cut it off on the new one, also holding the knife at 45 degrees. If protruding places are found somewhere on the new board, remove them with a chisel.
Once again, carefully inspect the bottom of the new board so that there are no tubercles left that will prevent it from lying at floor level. If any are found, we will definitely remove them.
If you have a suction cup for carrying glass, you can use it to move the new board, because...This is convenient and improves the quality of work.
To ensure reliable connection, we lubricate the contact joints of the new board with adjacent ones with glue or its analogues. We tap the board around the perimeter with a hammer and place a dispersed load (oppression) on it. All this will contribute to the quality of the floor repair.
