While the sun is reclaiming its rights from slush and bad weather, let's take care of protecting the balcony from the sun, which mercilessly scorches during the midday hours in the summer.

If everything is simple with double-glazed windows - you can buy roller blinds, order blinds or nail a cornice and hang curtains, then sliding aluminum frames significantly narrow the choice. Here we will talk about a rational, simple and cheap way to design “floating” frames.

Recycling, or reuse of resources. Surely there are old tulle in your house that you no longer like or are simply tired of, but for some reason are taking up space in the closet. It is to them that we will give a second life.

You will need:

  • Curtain fabric with a size equal to the total area of the balcony frames.
  • Starch or flour, a saucepan and water for cooking the paste.
  • Tools: ruler, pencil, large scissors, tablespoon.

Any tulle will do - thick or not very thick, with a large pattern or without it at all, pure white and colored. With several fabrics to choose from, think about a harmonious combination of balcony design style and curtain pattern.

How to escape from the scorching sun

Measure the width and height of one balcony frame.Count their total number. Transfer the resulting dimensions to the curtain using a ruler and pencil.

Cut out rectangles equal to the number of frames. Wash the glass as usual and let it dry. Cook the glue by pouring a solution of starch or flour into boiling water while vigorously stirring. Let it cool so you don't burn your hands.

Dip the cut piece of tulle into the paste and let it soak. Squeeze out excess liquid so that the fabric is moderately damp.

Straighten the tulle over the glass with your hands so that there are no wrinkles. For uniform and complete adhesion of the material to the glass, use a napkin or rag.

You can remove dust and refresh the material by wiping it with a slightly damp cloth.

In the fall or every other year, simply separate the applications from the glass. Rest assured that they will not be damaged; moreover, the starch will give them a radiant shine.
