Combustion products and remains of hot metal fall and stick to the internal surfaces of the gas-conducting elements of the welding torch, located in the active zone of the welding process. Over time, this inevitably leads to disruption of the correct flow formation, which negatively affects the quality of welding work. As a result of severe cleaning of combustion residues, a layer of material is also removed, which increases the overall mechanical wear of consumables.

To reduce these negative consequences, a special professional product is used in the form non-stick spray, sprayed onto burner parts in order to form a special protective layer, which, together with adhering metal and combustion products, can be easily completely removed during cleaning. But such a non-stick product cannot be purchased everywhere, and it is not cheap.

How to protect a semi-automatic burner with used brake fluid for free

But there is an alternative replacement for this scarce and expensive product in the form of already used brake fluid, which no longer costs anything. As before use special spray, clean the burner from accumulated combustion products and metal particles. Then we simply dip the cleaned burner several times into the already used brake fluid, poured into some container of suitable height.

After such a “bath” procedure, nothing sticks to the operating burner for an hour or two of total burner operation. The degree of protection using brake fluid is no worse than when using a special non-stick agent in aerosol cans.

Numerous experiences of experienced welders show that torches, as when using expensive special non-stick spray, and worthless old brake fluid, can withstand 2-3 years of intensive welding work.

Try to do it a couple of times and you will be surprised how your eyes hiss and your head spins from the evaporation of the brake fluid. This is complete. If you have too much health, use this method. I'll tell you a better option. Just lubricate the nozzle with graphite grease before work and that’s it. Brake fluid is poison
