If we open the fuel tank cap and look inside, we will find a jelly-like gelatinous mass in it, into which summer diesel fuel has turned. The viscosity of such a substance is very high and it cannot pass through the fuel pipes and enter the combustion chambers of the engine.
How to “defrost” diesel fuel using a homemade method
Adding gasoline to the fuel tank leads to the dissolution of paraffin clots formed overnight in diesel fuel. Only in this case it is necessary to observe the optimal proportion: for 100 liters of diesel fuel you need to add 10 liters of motor gasoline.
Also, for every liter of non-lubricating gasoline added, you need to add 50 grams of oil, which is needed to lubricate the high-pressure fuel pump.After that, all the ingredients in the container or fuel tank must be thoroughly mixed.
After adding gasoline and oil, diesel fuel became less viscous, i.e., fluid enough to move through the pipes under the action of the fuel pump and enter the fuel injectors. Of course, along with diluting diesel fuel with gasoline, you also need to warm up the fuel filters, pipelines, pumps and the engine itself.
After all these measures related to diluting diesel fuel with gasoline with added oil, warming up the fuel filters and the engine as a whole, it will start without any problems and will operate steadily. But after another frosty night, the whole procedure must be repeated again. To avoid this in cold weather, the diesel engine must be switched to winter diesel fuel.
