Quite often, in a home workshop or workplace there are not the necessary materials or tools to perform a particular job, repair damage, make the right part, or improve the properties of certain substances. But by looking around, you can use the capabilities of familiar products and objects and solve the problems that arise.

How to accurately and economically supply cutting fluid to the drilling zone

Using a hair dryer and side cutters, remove the insulation from the stranded copper wire.

We cut the bare core into halves and wind it into the grooves of a twist drill approximately in the middle.

We heat the end of the plastic tube with a hairdryer and screw it onto the drill until it completely covers the wound copper wire.

Before drilling from above, pour cutting fluid into the gap between the tube and the drill.

As a result, we save liquid and deliver it precisely to the work area.

How to use a nut to turn a square wooden rod into a round one

Using a grinder, we make a cut in a standard nut tangential to the threaded hole.

We plan the end of a square wooden rod into a cylinder and clamp it in the drill chuck. We clamp the nut with an oblique cut in a vice, turn on the drill and insert a square rod into the hole in the nut. As a result, the sharp edge of the oblique cut acts as a cutter blade and transforms the square cross-section of the rod into a cylindrical one.

To obtain a smoother surface, the operation should be repeated 2-3 times.

How to repair cracks in plastic parts using a lighter, a nail and a block of wood

We separate a small fragment from a wooden block of square cross-section and drill a blind hole in it from one end in the center.

Having retreated approximately 1/3 of its length from the head of an ordinary iron nail, we bend this part at an angle of 80-85 degrees.

Using the sharp end, insert the nail into the hole in the wooden block until it stops. We glue a regular lighter “on edge” to the block so that its nozzle is closer to the bolt head.

We anneal a compression spring made of thin wire in the flame of a gas burner, compress it and cut it into rings.

These products will help repair cracks in plastic products. Turn on the lighter and heat up the nail. Then we place the rings on the crack and press them with the head of the nail.

As a result, the rings are soldered into the plastic and reinforce the crack. On the reverse side we seal the crack with just a nail head.

How to use graphite powder to increase the adhesive properties of superglue

On a flat surface, pour a mound of baking soda and separately its mixture with graphite powder, and saturate them with superglue. After waiting until these interacting substances completely harden, we hit them with pliers. The raised surface, formed only by baking soda and superglue, has pieces flying off and it peels off if you rub its surface even with your fingers.A mixture of baking soda and graphite practically does not react to blows with pliers.

The first “slide” can be easily drilled with a drill, but the second one is practically not amenable to this operation.
