mobile Butterflies

The “Butterflies” mobile will be an excellent decoration for the interior of a children’s room, balcony, veranda or banquet hall. Lightweight, floating and moving with the slightest breath of air, butterflies made of embossed cardboard will make the room even cozier and create a relaxing atmosphere. Such an elegant and delicate decoration will be interesting to make with your child or as a gift to a loved one. The process of making it is very creative and many new creative ideas can arise in the process.

Let's prepare everything we might need to make a mobile:
• tape 2.5 cm wide – about 7 m;
• tape 1 cm wide – about 7 m;
• white mother-of-pearl beads;
• transparent beads 0.5 cm;
• needle;
• threads to match the ribbons;
• candle for processing the edges of the tape;
• scissors;
• ruler;
• pencil;
• template for the butterfly;
• white cardboard with embossing;
• cotton yarn to match the ribbons;
• a plastic circle with a diameter of about 24 cm.

We draw the outlines of the butterflies on the cardboard and cut them out. We will need 40 butterflies.

mobile Butterflies

For mobile pendants, we cut 8 threads of cotton yarn, each 80 cm long. We put 6 beads and one bead on the threads (the beads will be needed to fix the last bead.

mobile Butterflies

We tie cardboard butterflies (5 pieces for each thread). We move the beads apart so that there is 1 bead between the two butterflies. One end of the pendant remains free, and the other is decorated with a bead fixed with beads (we hide the knot and trim the end of the thread).

From a tape 2.5 cm wide we cut 8 pieces of 30 cm each. From a tape 1 cm wide - 12 pieces of 30 cm each.

We combine the edges of the ribbons and lightly melt them on a candle flame. With a quick movement of your fingers, press them while they are still hot so that they stick together.

These are the blanks for making flowers from ribbons.

mobile Butterflies

We lay a basting stitch along the edge of the workpiece (stitches should be about 0.3 mm).

mobile Butterflies

We begin to tighten the workpiece - pull both ends of the thread. We collect the ribbon into a flower and straighten its edges.

mobile Butterflies

We tie the edges of the threads with a strong double knot so that the flower does not bloom (do not remove the needle from the thread). We do this with all the blanks - we get 8 large and 10 small flowers.

mobile Butterflies

We bring the needle to the front side of the flower and embroider the middle with beads and beads (we embroider small flowers with beads, and large ones with beads and beads). We bring the needle to the wrong side and fasten the thread.

mobile Butterflies

We wrap the plastic circle with a ribbon 1 cm wide. Carefully sew the edge of the ribbon and trim the tip of the thread.

mobile Butterflies

From a ribbon 1 cm wide, cut 2 pieces for hanging the mobile, 65-75 cm each. We process the edges of the ribbons with a candle flame. We sew the ribbons crosswise to the circle wrapped in ribbon. To each end of the pendant we sew a small flower with several invisible stitches in such a way as to hide the seams.

mobile Butterflies

We sew the cross of the hanger with invisible stitches.

mobile Butterflies

On the pendants, in the place where they are attached to the circle, we sew large flowers with several invisible stitches.

We sew flowers symmetrically along the entire length of the circle.

Such a mobile can be hung under a chandelier or decorated with a cornice. By showing your imagination, you can come up with other models and use other materials: replace the butterflies with ribbon flowers or dragonflies, embroider the circle with beads or beads, etc. Such mobiles can become a worthy decoration for the interior of a room, office or banquet hall.
