Choose beads in the color scheme you see fit. The beads chosen for the master class were: plain dark brown for the dragonfly's body, light brown beads with silver inside for the wings, large brown beads.
Choose a large bead up to 1 cm in diameter - this will be the head of a dragonfly. Prepare copper wire of the desired color, flower wire (usually found in flower shops), and scissors.
We start by preparing the body and head of the dragonfly. For the body, we need a wire 31 cm long. We string 5 beads and step back from the edge about 5 cm. We thread four beads with the same short end, skipping the first one. This way we tighten the dragonfly's tail.
Trim the short edge end to end.
We continue to string the beads for another 8 centimeters. At the end we string the large bead that we prepared for the dragonfly’s head. After the large bead, we string a regular bead and return it back with wire through the large bead.We tighten it tightly so that the beads on the body do not dangle.
Now we string beads again on the free edge - 4 cm.
Holding it tightly with your fingers so that the beads do not crawl away, we wrap the assembled chain around the finished body and secure it when the chain ends with a wire, wrapping it several times between the beads. We cut the wire so that it is not noticeable.
Let's prepare wings for our dragonfly. It is necessary to string a chain of beads 75 cm long. Randomly alternate the regular beads that you prepared for the wings with large beads. Just don't overdo it so that the wings hold up and don't sag.
Now we create large wings symmetrically, making loops 6.5 cm long from the cast-on chain. After making a loop, twist the wire several times and make the same one symmetrically.
We repeat the same movement, only for the inside of the large wings. Having made the wings, leave the end about 2 cm long.
We repeat the same with the remaining cast-on chain for the lower small wings. They should be approximately 2 cm shorter in length. We connect the remaining ends of the large and small wings by twisting the wire.
All parts of the dragonfly are almost ready. It is necessary to collect the body into a single whole. We string the beads onto the wire to make a chain 31 cm long. We wrap the free end of the wire around the dragonfly's head so that it is not noticeable. We wrap the chain tightly around the dragonfly's body 4 times.
We attach the wings, the end of which is secured with wire without beads so that they hold tightly. We continue to wrap the dragonfly's body tightly until we run out of beads on the wire.In the same way, we wrap the wire several times at the end between two beads and cut it off so that the end of the wire is not noticeable. The final touch: bend the end of the tail a little.
For the stem, a thick wire is suitable, which is usually inserted into the stems of cut flowers. You need to bend the end of the wire by 1.5-2 cm. Insert the bent end, starting from the middle of the dragonfly’s body towards the tail. You can secure it with wire between the rows of beads or drop it with liquid super glue.
The dragonfly is ready to decorate our indoor plants!
