Today, jeans have become an integral part of the wardrobe of both men, women and children. Almost every season new ones are bought. But what to do with the old ones? It turns out that they can be used as potholders - a necessary accessory in every kitchen.
To sew a potholder in the shape of an apple you will need:
- a trouser leg from old jeans;
- a small piece of colored fabric (preferably cotton);
- insulation, for example, synthetic winterizer.

On a piece of paper, draw the shape of an apple. The size of the template is optional, such that it would be convenient to use the future potholder. Place the template on the jeans leg and cut the desired piece. You will need two cuts of the same size.

Iron the cut part thoroughly with steam.

Using a marker or a simple pencil, trace the contours of the apple on the front side of the flap.

Place the flap with the translated lines on the padding polyester, pin it with pins and sew strictly along the line. To sew a potholder, it is better to adjust the seam with a length of 2-2.5 mm in a sewing machine. A stitch of this length is optimal for high-quality turning of the product.

Fold the resulting sandwich in half and make a cut in the middle. Its length will be approximately 5 cm.

Cut a strip 7 cm long and 3 cm wide. Fold it and stitch it - this will be the tail of the apple.

Place another piece of denim face to face on the cut sandwich. Use pins to secure all three components of the new sandwich. Inside, between two denim cuts, attach the tail of an apple with a pin.

On the machine, again lay a line, focusing on the line from the side of the padding polyester. Don't rush, try to get the line right!

Use zig-zag scissors to cut off excess fabric and insulation. If you don’t have such scissors, then cut off all the excess with ordinary scissors at a distance of about half a centimeter from the line, and make notches in the rounded areas, not reaching the line by a couple of millimeters. As a result, we have this detail. View from two sides.

We turn the apple inside out through the cut.

Using a ruler, we straighten all the seams. To do this, insert a ruler through the cut into the inside of the apple, and use the corner to press the line outward. But don’t overdo it so as not to break the threads!
Iron the resulting workpiece with steam on both sides.

From a piece of cotton we cut out another apple piece, only about 1 cm smaller than the main one. To do this, you can draw a smaller template on a piece of paper, or you can make it smaller directly on the fabric. To do this, translate the original size, and then draw a smaller one there.

We place the cotton blank on the main one.

Using an iron and a glue web, glue the two pieces together.

Along the edge of the cotton blank we lay an applique stitch or a small zig-zag (set the stitch length to 1 and the width to 3).

Iron again. The potholder is ready!
