Hello, dear visitors of the site, today I can tell you about how to sew a good soft toy “Snail” from scrap materials yourself. It can be used as a pincushion, sticking needles and pins into the shell so that they do not get lost. The shell of our snail is not wide, so the needles, inserted in the direction of the spiral, cannot get lost in the needle bed itself, and our toy also stands on a small magnet and can be attached, for example, high to the refrigerator, which can arouse interest among small children. But the child must first be warned that when playing with a pincushion, he can inject himself, then only give it to him.

To sew such a toy, we will need:
1. A piece of fabric from an old jacket (dark red color) for a shell;
2. Two socks (orange) for making the head and body;
3. Scissors, glue, sheet of paper;
4. Needle and thread of a color matching the fabric;
5. Colored paper in red and black, pencil;
6. Thin magnetic plate;
7. Filling: cotton wool or padding polyester.

we will need

First, let's take A4 paper and make a sample:

Then, having divided our sample into parts, we apply the parts to a suitable material and cut out the necessary parts (from old socks we cut off the part where the heels are - we do not use it):

From colored paper covered with tape, cut out the eyes and mouth:

We take a small piece of fabric from the jacket and make a short bandage around the neck of the toy from it:

We sew the body, head and shell together with an internal seam, not forgetting to leave a hole for filling with cotton wool. During the sewing process, we slightly adjusted the size of the body - it turned out to be a little too big. We decided to make the head not looking to the side, but forward:

Having sewn all the parts together and turning them inside out, we stuff them with cotton wool:

It is best to straighten the cotton wool with thin tweezers, especially when filling the head, which has “horns”. Then we sew up the holes for inserting the filler. Then we sew the finished body to the head, tie a dark red “collar” on the neck of the toy, sew a small piece of the same fabric under the main headband (sewn by us) and glue the eyes with a mouth:

Our toy - a pincushion - is almost ready, all that remains is to sew a thin magnetic plate to it from below. Magnetic plates that are sold in chocolate packages in grocery stores may be ideal for toys. Like these:

From the plate taken for work, you need to remove the top paper wrapper and glue in its place a suitable piece of black paper covered with tape:

To hold the toy on a magnet more firmly, you can attach a piece of durable cardboard between it and a piece of paper. The finished magnet should be sewn to the bottom of the toy in three places: on the top side, then in the center, and then on the bottom side:

sew to the bottom

Our toy, the “Snail” pincushion, is ready! Made from simple materials on hand, it's fun, funny and can be a lot of fun for kids.
