This article will tell you how to sew a cute sleep toy. For this you will need:
- soft to the touch fabric (fashion, felt, flannel, knitwear or something similar) of any color, size 40x50 cm;
- velvet or black leatherette 5x2.5 cm;
- threads (the color of the main fabric and the color opposite to it), needle;
- filler for toys.
To begin with, we draw the outline of the future toy on a sheet of newspaper. Then we cut it out and, attaching it to the fabric and securing it with pins, outline it with a special fabric marker or ordinary soap. We cut out two halves of the “body” of the toy dog. For the ears, draw four outlines on the fabric and cut them out.
We sew the body patterns together from the wrong side. There is no need to sew everything up completely; in one place we leave a small unsewn hole for subsequent filling with the previously selected filler.
Turn the sewn base for the toy body right side out. Then we stuff the toy (tightly, but not tightly) and carefully sew up the hole.
Let's start sewing the ears.To do this, take two ear patterns and sew them on the wrong side along the edge. We leave a small area unstitched in order to turn the ears right side out. We turn it inside out, sew the unstitched section, and sew it to the head.
Then we sew on the nose from black fabric (or leatherette). We embroider closed “sleeping” eyes, eyelashes and claws on the paws with a coarse thread.
That's it, the Dachshund sleep toy is ready. To decorate, you can sew patches of bright fabric onto the toy, attach a bow, or make a cover on the back.
While stuffing with filler, you can also put a linen bag with mint or motherwort in the dog’s head - for better sleep for the child.
