A basket in the house is a very necessary thing. However, a good-quality, large, household basket is not a cheap pleasure. After thinking a little, I decided to make such a necessary item myself. As an option, I immediately discarded the basket of newspaper tubes. This is too labor-intensive and time-consuming. After rummaging through my materials, I found old non-woven wallpaper, pieces of which remained after the renovation. And then what I thought was a great idea came to my mind. So, today I want to share with you my experience of how you can get an excellent, spacious basket in a couple of hours.

For work I needed:
- corrugated cardboard;
- double sided tape;
- non-woven wallpaper (1 meter wide);
- PVA glue.

First you need to make the bottom of the basket. To do this, cut out two identical rectangles measuring 20x30 cm from corrugated cardboard.

For work I needed

Now we cut the wallpaper into strips 15 cm wide.

These are the blank strips I got.

We fold the strips along the entire length in three and sew them on both sides using a sewing machine.

The result is strips 5 cm wide. I had two types of wallpaper: 14 blue stripes, 45 cm long, turned out to be the base, and 7 pink stripes, 1 m long, were weaving.

Using double-sided tape, glue the strips to one of the bases.

Coat the top thoroughly with PVA glue and apply a second base.

Let it dry and glue a piece of wallpaper, hiding the corrugated cardboard.

Now we lift the main strips up and begin to weave a basket, entwining the blue stripes with pink stripes in a checkerboard pattern. Each row must be woven separately, securing the edge with glue and a stapler.

In the last row you need to wrap the blue stripes inward, as in the photo.

And this is the kind of basket we get.

The height of the basket is 40 cm. The basket is very roomy and strong. You can store anything in it, such as linen, or, like me, scraps of fabric, knitting threads and knitting needles. And it took two hours to make this miracle. Of course, you can add your own twist, for example, make a lid and handles, sew an inner cover, or decorate the outside with decoupage. This is a matter of your imagination. And I wish you good luck and inspiration!
