I'm starting to knit. To work you will need 5 knitting needles for knitting in the round, I use size 3 knitting needles and yarn. I chose special children's yarn. The composition is 50% wool, but it is not itchy at all. As always, first I cast on stitches on 2 needles, I do this so that the loops are not tight and the first row is knitted easily. For my yarn the number of loops is equal to 40.
Then I distribute 10 loops onto 4 knitting needles, and knit with the 5th knitting needle. The top of the socks is always knitted with an elastic band so that it stretches well and returns to its original position. I knit a simple 2/2 rib pattern. I got 23 rows.
Next, I knit in the round using regular stockinette stitch, the working thread behind the knitting needle.
Having knitted 16 rows, I move on to knitting the heel part. In children's socks, the heel was not strengthened. To knit the heel, you can take smaller knitting needles so that the knitting density is greater.And so, to knit the heel, I take half of the knitted loops - that’s 20 pieces and move them onto one knitting needle and knit them with only one knitting needle. The remaining 20 loops remain unknitted on the other needle, I will return to them later. When forming the top of the heel, you need to knit 8 rows in stockinette stitch, alternating purls and knits each row.
The next stage begins the narrowing of the heel. To do this, you need to distribute 20 loops on 3 knitting needles in this way: 5 loops on one, 10 loops on the next and the remaining 5 loops on the last knitting needle.
I continue to knit in stockinette stitch and remove one stitch at a time, knitting 2 stitches together on each row until there are only 10 stitches left.
I'm going back to knitting in the round. I pick up the missing side loops and start knitting in the round again. In total, with the loops cast on, I got 54 pieces
I continue to knit in the round. I gradually decrease two loops at once in each side row so that there are 40 loops again.
I continue knitting until I reach the toe area.
Gradually I begin to decrease the loops in each row through one in this way: 2 loops together, one loop as usual, then again two loops together and so on until the sock is closed. The socks are almost ready. But that is not all. I wanted to decorate them further and embroider a cat on them. To do this you will need embroidery thread or any thread you have at home. I take different colors: black, red, green, pink. I crochet the top with 3-4 rows of fluffy baby yarn. I embroider ears, eyes, antennae, and mouth using colored threads. And that's it, the socks are ready.
They turned out to be tall, as planned, so that they were taller than the shoes. My daughter really liked these socks.
