For socks for 3-4 years, size 25, foot length approximately 18 cm, you will need to cast on 52 loops with white thread.
We leave the cast-on loops on 1 knitting needle, and simply remove the second one. Next we distribute 13 loops onto 4 knitting needles. Knitting We start by connecting the first and fourth needles. Thus, from 52 loops, evenly distributed on 4 working knitting needles, you should get an equilateral block.
Rubber:
The elastic band consists of three stripes, two white and one dark blue. Knitting begins with white according to the 2x2 pattern, 2 knit stitches x 2. It is more convenient to start the first row with knit stitches. The elastic is knitted 10 rows in white, then 10 rows in blue, the third white strip of elastic - 10 rows. Thus, the height of the elastic band will be 7 cm.
Main part:
Without adding or subtracting the number of loops after the elastic, the main part continues with white thread only with facial loops. All 52 loops remain on the needles. 3 rows of transition to the main part is quite enough
Knitting heel:
Prerequisite: the required number of loops is transferred to 1 knitting needle. The rest remain on 2 knitting needles. Work continues only on knitting the heel length.
For work, take 26 loops on 1 knitting needle. Using white thread, knit stitches on the outside, purl when knitting the reverse row. In this way, 7 rows are knitted - this is the main height (approximately equal to 2 cm).
In the following rows, 2 loops are knitted together (on the front side) according to the pattern:
8 row - 8+9 loop and 17 and 18 loop
Row 9 (and all odd ones) – purl all stitches
Row 10 - 7 + 8 loop and 17 and 18 loop
12 row – 6 +7 loop and 17 and 18 loop
14 row – 5 +6 loop and 17 and 18 loop

The heel work is finished. The work should be 54 loops.If you made a mistake in the calculation somewhere, it’s okay, the missing loop can always be added at this stage.
Knitting foot:
After all 54 loops are worked, you need to knit 3 rows with white thread. Then we continue with the ornament.
Ornament:
Perform the pattern using facial loops.
A herringbone can be knitted on only one of the socks - this will help parents teach their baby the concepts of left and right if they wear (for example, only on the left leg) a sock with a herringbone. Blue pattern repeats are knitted in the round throughout the whole product, the herringbone is knitted alone on the top of the foot.
You can calculate the middle for the herringbone by simply dividing all the loops by 2, the calculation is carried out from the middle of the heel (from the fifth loop of the closed heel)
Closing the product:
We close the product on both sides with knit stitches according to the pattern 2 together 1 knit 2 together, then 22 knit stitches, 2 together 1 knit 2 together. In each subsequent row there are 2 fewer loops. The last 4 loops close the entire product. Cut the remaining thread at a distance sufficient to knit 2-3 loops. Hide the tip into the resulting pigtail using a hook.
