To anyone who is wondering whether they should take up hand knitting, we can only advise one thing: it definitely is. After all, this is a very exciting and useful activity.
Human creativity knows no boundaries, and manual creativity in particular.
Today in this article we will look at a master class on making a cute elephant for a child from soft and fluffy threads.
So, let's prepare the following for work:
- a skein of multi-colored fancy yarn (we will have Turkish yarn);
- a hook of the required size, two beads for the eyes,
- wire for the spout;
- holofiber for stuffing.
Level of readiness for knitting: simplest.
Operating time is about 1.5 hours.
Toy height: about 15 cm in height.
First action. Head and trunk
We take the threads of the color we need and start by knitting two loops, which are called air loops.
Having made a diameter of 4 cm, we begin the circular knitting, it turns out to be such a proboscis.
When the height of the trunk reaches 4 cm, we begin to greatly increase the loops to make a circle like this (this will be our future head.
When 5 cm of the head is already knitted, fill the head with holofiber, as shown in the figure.
Don’t forget to put a piece of wire bent in half into the proboscis so that the trunk stands and does not hang limply.
We close the knitting after stuffing, the head is ready.
Act two. Torso.
Our baby elephant will stand on all 4 legs, so its body should be quite large.
We also start knitting by knitting 2 loops and gradually adding them.
It turns out that we have the following.
When 6-7 cm are already knitted, gradually reduce the loops, then stuff the body of the toy and close the knitting.
This is what the head and torso together will look like.
Act three. Limbs.
The limbs are made according to a single and simple template. Two loops are knitted, then an increase occurs, circular knitting begins, which closes 5 cm from the beginning of knitting.
It turns out to be a leg like this, which should be filled with holofiber.
And this is what all 4 legs of the toy will look like.
Act four. Sewing parts.
Before we start sewing the parts together, we need to knit the ears of our future toy. It’s easy to do them; to do this, we knit a chain of 5 chain stitches (chain loops), and then start tying it.
This is what we get in the end.
Also, don't forget about the ponytail. It will be a simple chain of 6 VPs.
Then we sew the ears to the head and glue on the small black eyes. This is what our baby elephant will look like in profile and front view.
Now we sew 4 legs to the body.
And finally, we sew the head and body.
Now admire our little hero!
