Lace choker

Women began decorating their necks in ancient times. Since then, jewelry has evolved from primitive bone jewelry to complex jewelry. But fashion is fickle and tends to come back. Recently, chokers or velvets have gained popularity, first adorning a woman’s neck in the Late Middle Ages. Then they were worn by noble ladies, whose portraits every artist wanted to capture. Nowadays, the choker is loved by representatives of subcultures such as steampunk, gothic, as well as anime otaku and cosplayers. And after appearing at fashion shows of famous couturiers, he won the hearts of celebrities. Making such a necklace yourself is very simple and requires minimal costs, and if you use your imagination, you can create a whole collection of velvet necklaces for different occasions.
Materials for work:

1. Wide lace;
   
2. Satin or velvet ribbon;
   
3. Cabochon with base;
   
4. Centimeter;
   
5. Chalk;
   
6. Glue
   
7. Scissors, thread and needle.
   

Sequence of work:
First of all, we measure the volume of the neck. It must be remembered that even though choker is translated from English as “strangler”, and is designed to fit tightly to the skin, you should be comfortable wearing it.

Mark the desired length with chalk or a pencil on the wrong side of the ribbon and leave 20-25 cm on each side so that the decoration can be beautifully tied into a bow.

It is better to singe the edges so that they do not crumble in the future. If desired, you can use a clasp instead of a bow, but then the decoration will lose its authenticity.

The next step is to join the lace. To add volume, the lace ribbon should be sewn in folds to create ruffles.

We sweep our blank and sew it on a machine or by hand with thread to match the ribbon.

We take a metal base for decoration, place the cabochon on glue and wait for it to dry.

Find the middle of the choker and mark it with a small tape.

We sew the base there, and the lace choker is ready to go out into the world.

If desired, the cabochon can be replaced with a cameo, a bow or flower made of matching ribbon, a pendant, or a charm with chains for a gothic option. It is recommended to wear a choker with evening and cocktail dresses with an open neck.
