How to easily clean a dirty pan from carbon deposits

Every housewife knows how difficult it is to clean the surface of a pan from carbon deposits, especially if it is more than one month old. There is a very effective way to restore the appearance of dishes with minimal physical effort. Moreover, the surfaces are not scratched at all; even enameled ones can be cleaned.

What you need to have

Prepare a plastic basin; its height should be equal to the height of the pan. You will need soda ash, a bar of laundry soap, anti-grease like “Sanita” or any other, a dishwashing sponge and rubber gloves.

Cleaning technology

Pour 300–500 ml of hot water into a basin. Pour a little coarsely grated laundry soap into it (about 30–50 grams).

Add 100 gr. soda ash, stir the prepared mixture. If the soda was stored in a damp place, use a spoon to break up any lumps.

Pour four tablespoons of “anti-grease” into the prepared solution; it has active surface substances that perfectly release fat. Mix all components until completely dissolved.

Add boiling water to the basin. Its quantity must be selected in such a way that the pan fits completely into the water, but the solution does not pour out over the edges. It’s easy to find out - subtract the capacity of the pan from the basin’s capacity. The resulting difference is equal to the volume of water poured. Stir the solution again.

Fill the pan with boiling water and lower it into the basin. If the surface is not completely covered with the solution, add water to it. Leave the pan in this position for 5–6 hours, if possible, let it soak overnight.
Remove the pan from the basin; if the carbon deposits have become soft, then begin to clean the surface with the hard side of the dishwashing sponge. The fat is not removed - you will have to wait a few more hours.

Do not pour out the entire mixture from the basin; let half of the pan in it continue to be wetted while cleaning.

Try the dirtiest places; old carbon deposits are the most difficult to wash off. Be sure to wear rubber gloves; the prepared solution is very corrosive to the skin.
Clean the surface from dirt and rinse well in running water. The dishes will be like new.

Conclusion

Never use metal brushes when cleaning, they will always leave marks on the surface and it is very difficult to remove them later. It is better to increase the holding time than to spoil the appearance of the dishes. This method can be used to clean carbon deposits from any utensils, not just pots.
