This is a recipe that gourmets and lovers of fish delicacies will never miss, because pickled herring really turns out gorgeous, spicy, balanced in taste, without seeds - eat and enjoy! And marinating in a jar is convenient and, as always, helps out when there is no space in the refrigerator.

Ingredients:


  • - salted/lightly salted herring – 1 pc.;
  • - lemon – 0.5 pcs.;
  • - onion – 1 pc.;
  • - garlic – 1 clove;
  • - vinegar 6% - 1-2 tbsp;
  • - olive oil – 3 tbsp;
  • - sugar – 1 tsp;
  • - black pepper – 0.5 tsp;
  • - nutmeg – 2 pinches;
  • - chili pepper flakes – 0.5 tsp;
  • - coriander – 0.5 tsp.

  • Cooking time: 30 minutes.
  • Servings: 2-3.

Recipe:


1. Salted/lightly salted herring must be cut to obtain two fillet pieces without bones. If you find caviar, save it; it can also be placed in a jar for pickling.

2. Cut the herring fillet into small oblong pieces, at the same time removing the remaining rib bones with your fingers.

3. Take a suitable jar, put onion rings and garlic slices on the bottom.

4. Next, transfer the pieces of herring with garlic and onion rings to the very top of the jar or until the herring and onions are gone.

5. Coriander grains must be crushed in a spice mortar before adding to the jar; the remaining spices - nutmeg, chili flakes, black pepper - can be sent directly to the herring and onions on top.

6. Pour vinegar and olive oil on top, flavor with lemon slices. You can replace vinegar with lemon juice - squeeze the juice onto the herring and in this case exclude apple cider vinegar from the recipe. Shake the jar of pickled fish thoroughly and put it in the refrigerator for 2 hours.

In 2 hours, the pickled herring in the jar will be ready!
