Soffits are an economical and practical option for lighting a room. In addition, this directional lighting gives a special cozy atmosphere to the room. Now we will look at how to install recessed soffits to a plasterboard ceiling box.
Whether you plan to place soffits in the ceiling box must be determined already at the stage of its assembly. In this case, you will have to run the wire inside the box from the junction box. The length of the wire should have a margin so that you can reach 10–15 cm from each hole.

Do-it-yourself installation of spotlights

So, initially you will have to determine the installation areas for the spotlights, and at what distance they will be from each other. Next, using a drill and a bit corresponding to the diameter of the soffits, drill a hole in the box.

A suitable hole diameter is 10 cm. If you do not have a drill with a crown, this can be done with an electric jigsaw or a construction knife. However, in this case, it is necessary to cut the hole carefully, since the material is fragile and can be easily damaged.
Next, thread the wire through the hole and cut it to remove the wires.

If the wire is already connected and has voltage, it is necessary to turn off the power. Clean the ends of the wire with a utility knife or wire cutters.

Next, twist the ends of the two wires according to color. This can be done by hand or with pliers.

To install each spotlight you will need two terminal blocks with two screw clamps. With their help you can secure the connection of wires. If you are connecting without terminal blocks, use electrical tape to hide the exposed wire connections. Next, use terminal blocks to clamp both ends of the wire, as well as the spotlight connector, as indicated in the illustration.

Then take a spotlight, in which the corkscrew ring is first unscrewed. The lamp has special clamps on springs, with the help of which it is fixed to the drywall in the inside of the box.
