It happens that after the end of the washing cycle, the washing machine door does not open. The case is quite common and is divided into two main failures: the door arm has broken, or the electromagnetic lock has failed. Below are four ways to open the door. The first three should be used when the handle breaks, and the last fourth, when the lock itself breaks.
In most cases, the door handle breaks; when pressed, the lock hook moves to the side and the door opens.
You can feel this when pressing: the force will be minimal, or the handle will completely fall inward. But each model may have its own indications. Therefore, be sure to go through the first 3 methods before moving on to the last one.
Mandatory preliminary actions
Before you try anything, be sure to do the following:
- Turn off the power to the machine by unplugging the power cord from the outlet.
- Almost all machines have a thermal lock that will prevent the door from being opened within 2 minutes.Therefore, wait 5 minutes with a reserve and try to open the door again.
Kick on the door
If all mechanisms are working properly, jamming or jamming may have occurred. Hit the lock on the side of the door.
And repeat the opening. In some cases this helps.
Opening the door with a thread
If it doesn’t work out: take a thin thread, fishing line, wire - something about 2 meters long. We insert it into the upper slot and pass it inside between the door and the body.
Pull to the side so that the thread falls onto the hook of the lock. Next, pull with force in the opposite direction.
This method always works if the handle breaks. If it didn't work, the lock itself was broken.
A plastic card will help
The alternative method using a plastic card is equivalent to thread. We push it through the side and press on the hook.
But it may not always work; it will be difficult to get into the pipe if there is a bulge in the lock body.

If the lock is broken
If the methods described above do not help, disassemble the machine by removing the top cover.
The lock itself is directly visible, you can reach it with your hand.
