Hi all! A cooler bag is a great item and can be useful at any time of the year. It will keep food cold in summer and warm in winter. Now I will show you how you can make a cooler bucket with your own hands from a putty bucket. The homemade product is very inexpensive and requires a minimum of materials and skills for its manufacture.

Will need

To make it I took:
  • Putty bucket for 15 kg.
  • Tourist mat (on one side it is covered with foil).
  • Double-sided tape.
  • Stationery scissors.

After the repair, a bucket of putty remained. The bucket is tightly closed with a lid.

I will “insulate” the bucket using a tourist’s rug. If you don’t have a mat, you can buy thermal insulation mats made of polyethylene foam with a layer of aluminum foil. There are even options with a self-adhesive layer. Then you won't have to bother with double-sided tape.
I take the mat, apply the base of the bucket and outline it with a pen. It turns out 2 circles.

Now they need to be cut out.

I will use the first circle to insulate the bottom. Using double-sided tape, I glue it with the foil facing up.

Now I will glue the walls of the bucket. I take another piece of the mat and insert it into the bucket. I measure the height and cut it.

Again I take the tape and glue it to the walls of the bucket. To prevent the mats from coming off after some time, it is advisable to stick more tape.

Next you need to glue the cut pieces of the tour. rug to the walls. I carefully apply it and press it firmly against the walls.

The lid remains. It also needs to be covered. The procedure is similar. I glue the tape, apply the second cut circle, and press it.

That's all!

The refrigerator is ready. All that remains is to take small plastic bottles, fill them with water and freeze them. Or you can buy ready-made cold storage batteries.

Conducted tests. I took my temperature at 9 pm and 8 am. The temperature of the cold storage battery rose from -6.7 to 5 degrees. The temperature of the juice pack was 16 degrees. I think you can achieve a better result if you use thicker thermal insulation and seal all joints with aluminum tape.

Pros and cons of a homemade refrigerator

Pros:
  • It is produced quite quickly.
  • Low cost.
  • You can sit on the bucket. My weight is not too much, only 65 kg and the bucket held it.

Of the minuses:
  • A 15 liter bucket is not enough.
  • You need to decorate the bucket. It looks weird when you walk along the beach with a bucket of putty :)

That's all!
I hope you liked the homemade product.
