In spring and even early summer there are returns of frosts. In greenhouses at this time, seedlings sprout en masse and grow rapidly. To prevent it from suffering from temporary cold snaps, the greenhouse must be heated.
This can be done in different ways, but easier and cheaper - using the liquid candle method. Moreover, it can be organized by anyone, even a grandmother, and very quickly, which is very important, because night frosts in the spring come suddenly and without any warning.

Will need

To implement heating of a greenhouse using a liquid candle, you need to prepare the following materials and items:
  • a metal bucket with a lid for paint or other building materials;
  • can of stewed meat, paint, etc.;
  • sunflower oil;
  • an ordinary paraffin candle;
  • a little alabaster, gypsum or dry building mixtures.

The tools you will need are a drill or just a sharp knife, as well as a contact or remote thermometer to control the temperature.

The process of making a simple heater for a greenhouse

We collect a liquid candle, which is very simple to make.Place a candle at the bottom of the tin can and fill it with a thin layer of alabaster solution. After the alabaster has set and ensured the stability of the candle in a vertical position, pour sunflower oil into the jar.

By the way, such a jar can be used many times. If another candle burns out, then drain the remaining oil, pour hot water into the jar to remove the cinder, and put a new one in its place.
We place the liquid candle in a metal bucket, in which we make several holes at the bottom and top for ventilation.

Air enters the bucket through the lower holes to maintain the fire, and combustion products are removed through the upper holes. Close the bucket with a lid.

After the air inside the bucket has heated up, we measure the temperature on the surface of the lid, which reaches 70 degrees Celsius.

Considering the volume of the bucket, it can be argued that such a device is able to heat a small greenhouse in the off-season.

Calculation of heating costs

This simplest method for heating greenhouses in the spring is probably the cheapest. To organize a liquid candle, we buy a 0.9 liter bottle of oil for 50 rubles and a candle for 15 rubles. For one charge, half a candle and less than ⅓ bottle of oil is enough, respectively, 8 and 17 rubles or 25 rubles in total.

It has been verified by experience that one refill of a liquid candle is enough for four days, that is, 100 hours of continuous operation.
If the greenhouse is small, then in the spring, with the help of one or two liquid candles, you can maintain a positive temperature in the greenhouse, spending about 25 kopecks per hour of heating. This is very cheap compared to other methods, but no less reliable.

    All this is lies, I did this in a greenhouse, the candle does not burn, but constantly goes out, so there is no heat from it

    You can put the wick in oil without a candle. It will be even cheaper.

    Oil is fuel. It will burn instead of wax/paraffin when the candle level is equal to the oil level. The lid is needed to prevent warm air from immediately flying to the ceiling. It will burn the lid, and the lid will burn the air below.
    If the candle goes out, enlarge the holes.

    as soon as the candle paraffin burns out and oil begins to leak, the candle flame decreases and burns spruce-spruce, and the heating, accordingly, decreases - the efficiency of such a stove is very minimal, I checked it personally
