Most likely, the thought has already occurred to you of how you can artificially age paper in order to make a secret message for some game or competition. Perhaps there were other needs, such as a secret love letter...
If so, then look at a very quick way to simply age a piece of paper. Let's make, for example, an ancient map, like the one used by pirates in movies.
Rapid aging of paper
We print the map on a regular sheet of paper using a laser printer. We crumple it into a ball to give it an uneven structure, as if after many years.
Next, straighten and smooth it with your hands on a tray. Take a small container into which we put a teaspoon of instant coffee.
Add about 50 milliliters of water and stir until dissolved. Pour this solution onto paper.
Using a sponge, carefully distribute the solution over the entire area. Let it soak in for 5 minutes. Then blot the top with a paper towel to remove all excess moisture.
On this tray we place the paper in the oven to dry. Dry for about 15-20 minutes at a temperature of 100-120 degrees Celsius.
As you can see, the paper is bent like a boat. To correct this defect, we place it between book sheets, with additional clean sheets on top and bottom. Close the book and leave it like that for several hours.
After time, the artificially aged paper will be ready.
