When purchasing burrs, thin drills, and other consumables for a drill or engraver, we often, along with these goods, also acquire the headache of how and where to store such a miniature tool. When purchasing a set, for example, a burr, as a rule, along with it there is also a pencil case in which the tool is placed. But it happens that something is missing from the set - the required shape of a cutter, or a gimlet that may be needed at the most inopportune moment. You have to buy it separately. But the new consumable will no longer fit into the pencil case. You can put it all in a separate box or bag, but then, in order to find the required tool if necessary, you need to shake out all the contents from the bag. And tinkering around in a box is not a very exciting activity either. Making a universal pencil case to store such a miniature instrument is very easy and simple. With the simplest and most accessible tool kits for everyone.

Making a case for burrs
First you need to decide on the size of the future pencil case. I chose the size 10cm wide and 15cm long. The height of the pencil case should be selected based on the height of the longest drill, or cutter, that will be located in the pencil case.

You need to start assembly with the grid in which the tool will be located, in a vertical position. The height of the grate should be chosen based on the shortest tool, so that it can be freely pulled out of the grate with your fingers. So, after measurements, we cut out a strip of polycarbonate, shorter than the shortest drill (about 2 cm) in height and 9 cm wide. Using this strip, like a pattern, we cut out the rest of the same strips. Across the internal divisions in polycarbonate, of course! The strips should be cut in such a quantity that their total thickness reaches 14 cm.

Glue all the strips together with instant glue.

You should get a lattice 9x14 cm, and 2 cm high. Next, cut out the bottom and lid, 10x15cm, from the same polycarbonate.

Now, using a glue gun, glue the grille to the bottom, so that there are 5 mm protrusions at the edges.

Next, we cut out the end walls, the height of which is slightly longer than the longest tool. We cut the side ends 14 cm wide (the width of the grill), and the front and rear ends - 15 cm each.

Next, glue the front end with tape to the top cover on one side. Joint to joint. Thus, in the future the lid will hold and open on the body of the pencil case.

Well, now you can glue the entire body together.

The result was a box with a high lattice at the bottom and an opening lid.All that remains is to cover the pencil case with self-adhesive film.

I chose black and silver self-adhesive films - in my opinion, this is the most suitable color combination. Although, here everyone should have their own choice, according to their own preference. This kind of film, in a wide variety of colors and patterns, is available in every store that sells wallpaper. And so, this is what we ended up with:

All the tools that did not have the appropriate container when purchasing fit into this pencil case.

In addition to burrs, gimlets and drills, there was also a place for cutting discs, circular saws, and grinding stones. The pencil case itself turned out to be very compact, and easily fit next to the flexible shaft and a box with sanding and felt wheels, abrasive pastes, brushes and other necessary materials for the drill.

It is necessary to find the remains of polycarbonate ;)
But the idea is good! Although you can make it simpler - buy a box for food products, in stores there are different models from 0.45 liters to infinity. Select the height and volume and insert a piece of foam packaging material into the bottom, which is used for packaging computer and household appliances. The cutters simply stick into this material and, characteristically, are held quite securely in it. Another good option would be extruded polystyrene foam, but in extreme cases, just packaging foam will do for the first time!
