Before you start knitting such a pencil case, carefully examine your child’s colored pencils. Without a clear example at hand, it’s difficult to immediately distribute color blocks or choose the right shades.
In general, take the required number of balls of the desired colors (12, 24, 36, etc.), plus white, black balls for knitting the outer warp and its finishing. The hook should also be of a suitable size (usually this indicator is equal to the thickness of the thread), but you should still avoid massive and rough materials, because a large structure will not look very attractive.

Knit it with a single crochet (dc) along the entire length in straight rows. There are from 8 to 10 such rows for each block.
You can combine colors as you like, depending on personal tastes, as well as the preferences of the child himself. But still, the best option would be a uniform alternation of cold and warm tones.
Then tie the finished striped rectangle with a double stitch. n with white yarn along the entire perimeter, thereby highlighting and aligning all its sides.
And now our colored part is completely ready.
The white back wall should also be started by creating a chain and trying it on. This rectangle should be slightly larger than the previous one, and its sides should protrude a few millimeters from the edges of the colored workpiece.
Knitting To put it bluntly, two such details are not a quick job, but they are easy, clear and simple – that’s for sure.
Finally, give the white rectangle a contrasting frame with black yarn.
Now sew the two pieces of the pencil case along its sides and bottom, leaving the top completely free.
The last stage is the separation of narrow colored cells. To do this, place the thread behind the work (more precisely, at the bottom of the pencil case) and pull out the loops one by one, threading each of them into the previous one until a chain is formed along the entire cell (up to the top white border).
This way you will not only connect the walls of the product, but also highlight each “pencil” with the already familiar white frame.
For home use, the canvas with pockets can be hung in this form above the table. This way, the child will always see the pencils, know where they are (that is, never rub them) and get used to storing them in one place (another plus - he won’t scatter them all over the room). But for transfer, it is better to sew a narrow ribbon so that you can tightly tie the twisted tube and not lose your pencils.It will be convenient for a young schoolchild to carry such a pencil case in his briefcase.
