How to make a macro lens for your phone camera

A macro lens for a phone camera is not exactly necessary, but sometimes it comes in handy. For example, for lovers of macro photography. For those who love the macro world, you can shoot not only photos, but also videos through a macro lens. In addition, such a thing can help out if a person, especially in old age, has poor eyesight. For example, consider the hallmark and mark of a master on a piece of jewelry without resorting to the help of a specialist. Of course, modern phones often have several cameras - macro, wide-angle, selfie, etc. But they do not always meet the user's requirements. For example, it is unlikely that it will be possible to examine a rare insect in detail through such a macro camera. Yes, it’s not difficult to buy a lens attachment for a phone camera. But why pay money and more, then wait for a pig in a poke, wondering at the same time whether this thing will fit the phone or not... You can make such a thing, like any other thing, completely independently. If, of course, you have at least a little perseverance and patience. Moreover, you can literally assemble it on your knees, from old and unnecessary junk.

Will need

• A piece of plastic, 1 mm thick (for the body).
• Alligator clip for headphones.
• Soldering iron (or burner).
• Ruler.
• Marker.
• A cheap laser pointer (or an old unnecessary disk drive from which you can remove the laser module).

Macro lens assembly

Assembly is the simplest. I would even say – primitive! We place the lens from the laser pointer on the phone camera lens.

We install a crocodile clip on the phone body, opposite the camera. We measure the distance with a ruler.

Cut off the appropriate piece of plastic. Next, use a soldering iron to solder the lens to a strip of plastic.

Then, solder the opposite end of the plastic plate to a clothespin. The lens is plastic, so there will be no problems with soldering.

There you go! This lens can be taken out of the cheapest laser pointer for playing with cats.

Such a pointer costs 49 rubles in the fixed price. Well, or you can disassemble the old disk drive - there is a laser module, which also has such a lens. I took the plastic from a burst CD box. I would not recommend using glue, especially second glue, in this craft - the glue will leave a whitish coating on the lens, which will affect the quality of shooting.
