A gas burner is usually used for tempering, hardening and casting metals, as well as installing welded roofing. This is quite bulky equipment, and in order to refill its cylinder, you need to go to a gas station. It is much easier to use a gasoline burner. It is lightweight, takes up little space, and can be refilled at any time from a canister or by draining some fuel from the car tank. It is possible to make such a tool using a blowtorch.
Basic materials:
- gasoline blowtorch;
- refrigerator compressor;
- gas hose;
- blank for turning;
- perforated profile or corner.
Burner manufacturing process
The basis of the homemade product will be an old blowtorch. All you need is a tank and a burner. The first step is to cut off the handle on the tank and clean it for painting.
A frame is welded from a profile pipe, angle or perforated profile.
It will serve as a frame for installing on top of the compressor from the refrigerator and the lamp tank. The frame is made to fit the width of the compressor base so that it can be bolted to it.
Since it is better not to drill or weld the tank, so as not to weaken its metal, limiters need to be welded under it on the frame. This will allow it to stand stable. To do this, sides are welded from a square rod onto the frame, between which the tank will fit tightly. Also, for further tying of the hose, a vertical stand is welded from the same square.
The welded frame and the blowtorch tank are painted.
After drying, the compressor and tank are screwed onto it.
A hose fitting is screwed onto the thin outlet of the tank under the burner.
It can be picked up at a plumbing store or turned on a lathe. Then a long hose is put on the fitting, at the end of which the previously dismantled burner is attached.
For ease of operation, you can make a handle under the burner. To do this, it is extended with a metal tube, on which a wooden cover is installed on top. All connections are tightened with clamps.
To prevent the tank from falling out when the hose is pulled, you will need to tighten it to the rack with a plastic tie.
An adapter fitting is screwed onto the filler neck of the tank with the previously removed hand pump. The hose from the compressor is connected to it.
To prevent the compressor from pumping dust into the tank, you need to make an air filter. To do this, put the neck of a plastic bottle with a hole in the cap onto its inlet tube. You can insert a dishwashing sponge into it as a filter element.
To use the burner, you need to fill the tank, turn on the compressor and build up pressure until gasoline comes out of the nozzle.
After this, the control valve is closed and the splashed gasoline is ignited.
Next, the burner is used in the same way as a regular blowtorch.As the flame of fire decreases, you need to briefly turn on the compressor to increase the pressure in the tank.
