When laying tiles, you may need to cut a rectangular hole, for example, for a shower drain or installation button. It would seem that the task is not difficult if you have an angle grinder, but it requires care, especially if the cutting is narrow. By preparing holes in this way, you will not spoil a single tile.
What you will need:
- grinder with diamond blade;
- drill with a diamond bit;
- double sided tape;
- narrow pieces of tiles;
- pencil or felt-tip pen;
- distance crosses;
- ruler.
Hole tapping process
The outline of the hole is drawn on the front side of the tile.
A ladder or button is glued to the center with double-sided tape, for which you need to cut a hole. Unnecessary tile trimmings are similarly glued through the crosses on the sides.
The ladder or button is torn off, and a cut is made with a grinder along the front side close to the scraps. It is necessary to cut through the tiles on each side. In this case, the disk should reach the corners of the markings, no further.
The tile is turned over and cut from the reverse side. Since through holes are visible there, this will not be difficult.On the back you can already go beyond the outline of the square.
After making the hole, you need to trim the inner corner with the edge of the diamond bit.
The seams on such a cutout will be perfect, which is important when installing the ladder.
