You can put a homemade lock on the gate that will latch when it is closed. This is a fairly simple device that can be made in a couple of hours, and it will last almost forever, since there is nothing in it to break.
Materials:
- corner 30x30;
- strip 20-30 mm;
- bolts M10 and M6.
Latch manufacturing process
A piece 20 mm wide is cut from the corner.
A piece of 60 mm strip is applied to it and pressed with a clamp. Now you need to drill 2 holes in them. The first is done closer to the edge of the corner with a 6 mm drill, the second should be 10 mm.
The parts come apart. A 10 mm hole in the corner is bored towards the end.
A hole is also bored on the strip, but to the side. Then you need to round the end of the strip near the smaller hole. On the opposite side it is cut so as to obtain a latch.
Now you need to make the same piece of strip as half a corner with a hole in order to weld the latch mounting bracket. To do this, the workpiece is welded to the corner.Between them you need to insert a latch and a thin plate to create a gap. After welding, the same holes are drilled on the strip and a cutout is made.
A heel from a piece of strip is welded onto the butt of the latch. Then it is installed in the bracket and secured with an M6 bolt.
The bracket with the latch is welded to the gate with the heel facing up. A counter part is made on the post from a strip and a welded pin from an M10 bolt. When closing the gate, the latch is folded back with a pin, and after it passes, it lowers.
To open the lock, you will need to lift your heel.
